Lori Dokken, in partnership with The Woman’s Club of Minneapolis, presents ... The Fierce Mothers of Minneapolis!

Friday, May 17, 7:30 pm in the Theater

The word mother means many things: a female parent, a woman in authority, in charge of, maternal tenderness or affection, an extreme or ultimate example of its kind, treating a person with great kindness and love. For one night, it also means an amazing concert in the Theater of The Woman’s Club. The Fierce Mothers of Minneapolis features a rare gathering of some of the Twin Cities’ finest female vocalists, including Patty Peterson, Mary Jane Alm, Aimee Lee, Ginger Commodore, Judi Vinar, and Rachel Holder, along with a smokin’ band featuring Lori Dokken and friends. Don’t miss this evening of country, folk, jazz, pop, and rock ‘n roll. $40 general admission / $75 VIP (includes premium seating, parking, complimentary refreshment, and meet & greet).

Women on the Moon is a concert event that showcases some of the greatest female artists from the 1960’s such as Mama Cass, Tina Turner, Aretha Franklin, Cher, Lesley Gore, Grace Slick, Janis Joplin, Dionne Warwick, Joan Baez, Ella, Laura Nyro, Diana Ross, Barbra Streisand, Joni Mitchell, Bonnie Raitt, the great Nina Simone and many more. Producer and musical director, Lori Dokken, has assembled some of the Twin Cities’ finest female vocalists to transport you back more than 50 years to a time when so many things were static and tumultuous, and yet “peace” and “love” were two of the most circulated words of the era.

Featuring Ginger Commodore, Dennis Spears, Ashley Commodore & Lyndora Turner In May 2023, the world lost one of the most electrifying performers in history, Tina Turner. For this show, Ginger Commodore brings together some of the most dynamic voices in the Twin Cities to pay tribute to “The Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll.” Along with Ashley Commodore, Lyndora Turner and Dennis Spears (covering Ike’s bass lines), this show covers Tina’s career. Songs will include “Proud Mary,” “What’s Love Got to Do With It,” “Private Dancer” and more!

A bundle of energy donning high heels, a miniskirt and a lion-like mane of hair – that’s how fans knew rock queen Tina Turner. She also had that deep, smoky voice with which she wrote music history – and which secured her a spot as one of the greatest musicians of all time.

Whether you remember her as a rocker, an R&B singer or an actor, you know that she was “Simply The Best.”
